The American Dream

They come from the four corners of the world, seeking a new life for themselves and their children. Some were doctors and scientists in their homelands, but are often forced to start from the bottom and prove themselves all over again. They do it for the American Dream and because they want to leave a legacy for their descendants.

Officially an Official

I have now been officially sworn in as a representative of the United States of America. Well, technically I was sworn in seven weeks ago so that I could be paid, but I have now been ceremonially sworn in and by the Secretary of State, no less.

It’s been a busy, draining, fantastic seven weeks, but, alas, the A-100 Foreign Service Officer Orientation has come to an end. Well, almost.

The big news is slowly sinking in. In less than one year from today, we’ll be sitting in our Kiev apartment slurping borscht and discussing NATO in Russian. Something like that anyway.
