Guilt

My wife says I don’t have to feel guilty about not blogging. The funny thing is, she’s right. (Not really funny ha ha, I guess, but you know what I mean.) I imagine somewhere at some university there is a grad student writing a thesis about the psychology of the blogosphere and why bloggers feel guilty about not constantly updating a site that few people read and most of that small number of people are strangers. Still, I feel bad about not giving my loyal readers a bit more to read so here is a mini update on life in Kyiv.

Winter has settled in on the city. It is cold and occasionally very snowy. Worst of all, it is dark. All of the time. The sun rises around 8am and set at around 3:30pm. That in itself isn’t that terrible. The hard part is that during our “daylight” hours, there isn’t really any daylight. It is just a brighter shade of gray. I don’t think I’ve seen the sun in a month. Fortunately, from a meteorological standpoint, the days are now getting longer. Hopefully, in a few weeks we’ll be able to tell. For now, I just have to deal with lots of walking the dog in the cold. At least she is housebroken now so I don’t have to run outside without a coat anymore because she’ll pee on the stairs because I was too slow.

In about a month we should get our bidlist that will contain all of the possible places for us to go on our second tour. We won’t actually leave Kyiv in spring of 2009, but we’ll find out where we’re going by April or so. We don’t know what is on the list yet, but right now we’re hoping to go someplace drastically different for a change of pace. I’ll let you know some of our options as soon as we get the list.

If you’re a ravenous reader and I’m not satisfying your needs, please don’t forget to head over to Jennifer’s site. She updates much more regularly and often posts photos. We do most everything together so between the two of us you can get a good insight to living in Kyiv.

Can’t wait to hear about the new bid list, but Namibia? After Kyiv, you deserve Paris, Barcelona, or Rome … someplace posh and easy. If you want it, that is.

Of course there’s always Moscow.

There are a lot of rules involved with bidding so Paris is a possibility, but Barcelona and Rome aren’t. We’ll see what the options are soon…
