Foreign Service Blogs

I noticed recently that when one does a Google search for “foreign service blogs,” this blog is the second entry that pops up right behind the Associates of the American Foreign Service Worldwide (AAFSW). It makes me feel more than a bit guilty that there were probably people out there coming to this blog for information on the Foreign Service only to find it hadn’t been updated in months. Hopefully, it will be better now.

I feel that I should leverage that good Google placement and help out those looking for a little more information on the Foreign Service. To that end, I started a Foreign Service page on the blog where I provide a few resources and links to other FS-related blogs. If you would like to have your blog listed, just send me an email and I’ll take a look. As a newcomer to the Service myself, I wouldn’t presume to speak with any authority on the subject so I hope that those who stop by will take a look at what others have to say.

There are many, many FS blogs out there now. I could rattle off dozens of blogs off the top of my head and I bet the number is actually over 100. From what I’ve seen, they seem to be in one of two categories: 1.) Bloggers who happen to be in the Foreign Service and write a little bit about everything (like this site.) 2.) Bloggers who have decided to focus almost solely on Foreign Service issues (like this great blog.)

I can’t guarantee that this blog is going to become more FS specific (in fact, I can guarantee that it isn’t), but I am happy to provide a resource for those interested in learning more. Just add a comment with any questions or requests.
