I was wondering about your impressions of racism in Kyiv... I'm in the process of applying for a Fulbright grant to study there, and my now-fiance (by then will be husband) will be coming with me if I go. He's Hispanic and looks more Middle Eastern. I lived in St. Petersburg for a year and the attacks and attitudes toward minorities were extremely frightening. I'm worried it might be a problem in Ukraine as well. My worry isn't helped by the fact that most of my (albeit very elderly) Ukrainian relatives are quite racist.
