Whenever there's an American holiday or significant historical day, I try to take the first 15 minutes or so of class to tell the kids a little bit about it. I've seen my kids' history textbooks, and American history takes up two and a half pages. They know we used to be a colony of England, they know we had a civil war, and they know we were in "some wars in Europe" and in the Korean War, but that's about it. That sounds like a lot of fun.
