Can you Contain Yourself?

So I know that I haven’t been a good blogger lately, but I have two really good reasons. I’ve been busy trying to find a part-time job and absolutely nothing exciting has been happening.

I hate job interviews, but I really hate retail job interviews. There are only so many ways to discuss the merits of clear communication in the workplace and the importance of customer service. And nothing makes you feel more overqualified than when the “education” section of the application goes all the way back to elementary school.
Honestly, do any of these people really care where North Newton Jr/Sr High School is?

So after weeding through all my job offers, this week I started a job at The Container Store. If you check the website you will see that I am now officially a “neat person.” Thank you very much.

This week has been a lot of training. Some of it is interesting, but most of it is pretty boring…and a lot of common sense. I’m ready to just get out on the sales floor and get going. Hopefully by the middle of next week that will happen. And if Shawn thought the apartment was organized before, just wait until he sees what I can do with an employee discount and unlimited resources!

Congrats on getting the job at The Container Store! You’re going to have the best organizational tools right at your fingertips… I’m jealous. ;)

I’m a little jealous too. I love organizing and reorganizing and organizing again. But then I start feeling unorganized when I can’t remember how I organized the last time. So I quit for a bit and then start again. Anyway, glad you got the job and hope you’re liking it! Keith and I go to Storables but we just got a Container store. I’ll have to check it out! Take care…

Jen!! You should’ve let me know and I would have referred you in! I work as a “treasure trover” (aka substitute) at the Tysons store still… :-). You are going to have the best packout organization ever, trust me!!

But, watch out - that employee discount is addictive! Some people call it the barter and exchange program - you exchange your time to spend your whole paycheck at the store…
