Hours of work finally pay off

One interesting thing about the Foreign Service lifestyle is how easy it becomes to spend money on things you just wouldn’t have before. Suddenly, we’re only 2 months away from our departure and we’ve started to feel like we really need things. Things that might have seemed frivolous before. But we’re giving up our American life and moving to a place where they don’t even speak English, for god’s sake, so I think we deserve whatever conveniences we can think of to take along with us.

New York, New York

We spent our last holiday weekend in the US in the city that never sleeps: New York City. Even though we both love theater and big cities, we had somehow never made it to the Big Apple before. So we spent a whirlwind of just under 48 hours seeing as much as humanly possible in a city where there are literally hundreds of things to see.

Newfound freedom

Yes, I now have some more free time. Saturday was my last day of work at The Container Store and I celebrated by partying like it was 1999.
