After the most harrowing experience trying to leave Ukraine, we have returned from our brief trip to the US. We brought back with us: a few extra pounds from fast food and American-sized portions and a few hundred dollars worth of merchandise as we did our best to boost the economy. And two days ago, when we first returned, I would have said I came back well-rested, but after two nights of jet lag, I’m just feeling tired and cranky.

We’re getting ready for a much-needed break. So Patchwork Planet will be quiet for a while, but I’ll be back soon with tales of adventure, or lack there-of. Now that I mention it, I think no adventures will make for quite a pleasant adventure at this point in time.
Yesterday the weather was horrible. It rained all day - the kind of rain when it’s only a few degrees above freezing, so it’s terribly cold and wet and everything floods because the precipitation is rain instead of snow. Yuck. Around 10pm, things turned into what I believe meteorologists in the US would call a “wintry mix.” And at some point over night it turned into all snow. And so this morning, we woke up to our first day of snow in Kyiv! And it hasn’t slowed down since.
I see that another week has passed since my last blog entry. Remember when I said I was going to be better about blogging? I swear, people, I’m trying. I don’t know how so many people seem to find the time to blog every single day. But they do, and recently I’ve become a little obsessed with blog reading. Maybe too much of that is why I can’t find the time to blog myself?
