This just in

Last night we found out our next overseas assignment. [insert drumroll here] In summer 2009, we will be moving to….Nassau, Bahamas! So if I can just hold on for another year and a half, every day will look somewhat like the photo I posted yesterday.

It’s a little strange to think about living in the Bahamas. I mean, we went on our honeymoon there. I’ve always wondered what it’s like to live in a vacation destination, so I guess I’m going to have my chance to find out. I’m very excited, although it still feels a long way off. I want to gather as much information as I can, but it seems crazy to start now. And I think there’s always a little bit of disappointment when you consider all the cool places on your list that you didn’t get (Paris, Canada, heck, even Monrovia sounds interesting now that we’re not going there).

But I’m definitely not complaining.

Oooh the Bahamas! How fabulous! I’m thinking you guys might be getting lots of visitors at that post! When can James and I schedule a trip to see the new digs? ;-) (*obviously* not until post-April 2009… perhaps it can be a belated 2-year-anniversary trip for us!) Even though it still is a bit of a trip to Nassau, it feels much closer (and more possible to swing a visit) than Kyiv. :-) Hope you are both doing well in the meantime!

I’d like to RSVP for the fall of 2009! After all – I am your favorite cousin!!

Bahamas ~ I think you can “tolerate” it for 2 years!

Somehow I knew my announcement was going to bring in the vacation requests. :)

Unfortunately, we are unable to take reservations until we know what our housing will be like (ie. how many spare bedrooms we’ll have). I’ll keep you all posted!

Congrats? Any chance you all are taking our friend Catherine’s place in consular? The housing seems nice–lots of room compared to our former Soviet Apartments and it’s so close to Miami. We’re off to Quito!! (I still need to post it on our blog)
