There have been moments over the past three days during which Laika and Peema have appeared to actually get along. Laika nuzzles Peema’s belly, while Peema purrs and kneads her claws into Laika’s face. (Yes, this is Laika’s idea of a good time.) I just heard some soft meowing and purring coming from the next room and walked over to find this:
This week’s excitement is that I had my very first sale to a complete stranger. While my friends and family have been wonderfully supportive, purchasing dozens of my bags (each, for some of you – you know who you are) and spreading the word about Witty Designs, it was pretty exciting to get an order and realize that I had no idea who the buyer was. It feels like the first step toward sightings of celebrities carrying my bags and then being on the O List. Okay, so maybe it won’t happen that fast, but it’s pretty exciting for me. For now, back to sketching designs for the new line I’m planning for this fall. I’ve been collecting fabric all summer…
Six weeks and two days from our departure, I’m finally beginning to make some progress on the huge to-do list that has been staring me in the face for the past few months. Of course, it seems like each time I cross something off, another two or three things are added. Which explains my fragile mental state this week. I know it will all get done. I just wish I wasn’t the one that was responsible for taking care of it.
Our first shipment of belongings has finally arrived! Last night we slept under our own familiar blankets again. And Peema had a great time whooping up and down the hallway, attacking her scratching post and doing fierce battles with her favorite toy, Blue.
I know that you all must be anxiously awaiting more details from our trip and first (almost) two weeks here in Kyiv. Unfortunately, we still don’t have consistent internet access at home, so I’m using a computer at the Embassy, which means no pictures for now. But we’ve taken quite a few, so I’ll add them as soon as I can.
We’re one step closer to Kyiv – the movers came yesterday and removed most of our worldly belongings. I spent all day Sunday getting our things as organized as possible without actually packing anything. That’s what movers are for, right?
